We are looking for 5-6 people who would be the team managing the funds donated to the mutual aid network through this platform. At least one member of the team needs to be available to attend the Sunday AMAN meetings at 2pm to give a weekly update.
Stewards will coordinate with each other to process hotline needs requests, approving invoices and reimbursement requests, and distributing funds to neighbors in need who are not eligible for other services. Eviction Defense & Rent Support Team
Athens Mutual Aid Network8 volunteers - sign up to volunteer
Calling all Athenians who are passionate about housing justice! The GA eviction moratorium expired on June 14th, meaning that landlords have now had a couple weeks to submit eviction paperwork. While COVID-19 cases continue to rise, we can expect eviction cases to also start rising among folks who have been hard-hit by the economic shut-downs and medical expenses of this pandemic.
The Eviction Defense & Rent Support Team is needed to support the AMAN hotline, provide legal information to folks facing eviction, and organize our local community to support folks staying in their homes.
You we need a robust team that can:
- liaise with the GA Legal Aid, Athens Land Trust, and Housing Justice League for tenant rights and eviction defense legal resources
- liaise with AMAN and the Ark to support folks with rent payments when we can (especially folks who are ineligible for other local rent-support services)
- liaise with other local housing agencies,
- directly support neighbors facing eviction in the ways they self-determine they need, and
- recruit others in our community to offer what they can to these efforts.
We take care of us.Athens (on site)created

Greeting Card Writing Volunteer
Athens Community Council on Aging9 volunteers - sign up to volunteer
Ask: Drop off or mail written letters or cards to the council on aging office for them to distribute to their Meals on Wheels clients so they can have something a little special and know the rest of the community is here to support them.
Because a lot of ACCA service programs were closed to protect the safety and health of this older demographic due to COVID- 19, letters are more important than ever. Seniors really appreciate the extra support from their community, and knowing that we as a community have made a commitment that no senior will be left behind!
Letters can be dropped off or mailed to:
